artist statement.
I explore an array of environmental spaces and natural materials that otherwise act as a medium in my work. I approach my medium through careful observation and intimate collection–in search for purpose and insight.
The process in my work consists of an integration of experimental textile dyeing; which involves the use of extracting dyes from natural plants, bookmaking, poetry, and design. My practice emphasizes on spaces, the use of materials, and social engagement–with a focus on empathy and self-reflection.
I invite the viewer to participate and witness elements of growth, refuges, and spiritual aspects in my work; in the hopes of stirring a sense of peace and light in their own lives.
